How to order your driver's abstract directly from ServiceOntario
Go to ServiceOntario's "Get a driving record" page, choose the 3-year uncertified record, enter your driver's licence number, and pay $12 with a Visa, Mastercard or debit card. The ministry emails the record to you as a PDF immediately. You do not need us for this, and this guide exists so you can decide that with the real steps in front of you rather than after paying somebody.
The steps, as the ministry publishes them
The ordering page is ontario.ca/page/get-driving-record. Choose the 3-year driver record and the uncertified version - the certified one is $18 and goes by post. Enter the driver's licence number. Pay $12 with a valid Visa or Mastercard, or by debit.
The record arrives as a PDF by email, immediately. There is no processing queue for this product and no waiting.
The one thing to be careful about
The ministry charges for the search, not for the result. A licence number entered wrongly is still a search, and it is still paid for. Check the number character by character against the card before you submit - fifteen characters, one letter then fourteen digits.
This is the whole of what our own fee buys, and we would rather say so plainly than imply there is more to it. We check the number's shape, we submit the request, and we pay the ministry out of the single charge you make to us. If you are comfortable doing those three things yourself, do them - it costs the ministry's $12 and nothing more.
The other channels, and when they are the right one
In person at a ServiceOntario centre: the uncertified record is printed while you wait. By mail: complete form SR-LC-112 and send it to the Ministry of Transportation, Information and Data Retrieval Unit in Toronto. The mail channel takes 15 business days and needs either a certified cheque or money order made out to the Minister of Finance, or the separate credit card authorisation form SR-LV-034 attached.
Mail is the only route to some of the records - the Extended and Complete driver records cannot be ordered online at all.
Why this page exists on a site that sells the same thing
Because failing to tell you is a violation, and because a service that hides the direct route is not one you should hand a driver's licence number to. The US Federal Trade Commission lists failing to disclose that a consumer can obtain a document directly from the agency as a standalone violation in its own right, separate from any claim about who we are. Canada's Competition Bureau laid criminal charges in July 2026 against the operators of a third-party online passport service on the general impression their site gave.
So the ministry's fee, its link and the date we last checked both are on every page of this site, including the one you would pay on.
